“Not for Midges”

“Not for Midges”. Please read before blaming me. This lotion bar is part of the new range that will be buzzing in 2026.
Despite the name, “Not for Midges” lotion bar is not a midge repellent. No midges were harmed, repelled, or even mildly inconvenienced in the making of this product.

This is a cosmetic product, not a medicine or insect repellent. In the UK and EU, cosmetics are allowed to care for skin. Anything claiming to repel insects must be licensed, tested, and regulated as a medicine or biocide. This is not that.

So yes, it is unlikely that it is going to repel midges.
The name is folklore, wishful thinking, and a sense of humour. It contains essential oils traditionally associated with outdoor use, citronella & eucalyptus, but tradition is not the same thing as evidence or legal permission.
If you need guaranteed midge protection, use a properly licensed repellent. If you want a well made skin product with honesty and humour, Not for Midges does exactly that.
